Fatal Fortunes is a role-based deduction game for four players. One player is the Fortune Teller; the other three are Lost Spirits, each with four hidden identity traits. Through timed rounds, Spirits ask questions that must be answered truthfully but cryptically. Players discuss, make guesses, and place tokens on the board as the game unfolds. The game ends after 18 turns or when guesses are finalized.
The project grew from a simple idea: we don’t play enough in how we communicate. Fatal Fortunes slows conversation down and invites curiosity, ambiguity, and imagination. By keeping the rules for speech open, the game turns language itself into the core experience.
